I was lured in by the promise of man falls in love first and pining, which I'm a sucker for, but as it turns out Tamna is quite a good drama.
Don't be fooled by the synopsis and the off putting promotional photos!
Is anyone else having problems with Viiki? The video screen just keeps spinning.
- It looks gorgeous.
- So far the main focus is on the romance and the characters but the action plot is interesting enough that I don't FF through it. Take note Da Ren Wu et al it can be done.
- The triangle is balanced, by which I mean there's no obvious leading man both William Park Kyu are strong characters and it's only my Kdrama cynicism ruining the mystery.
- Great characters, I adore Boe Jin's family and Park Kyu interaction with the mother and little sister.
- For a drama based on a manhwa it's surprisingly lacking in OTT silliness.

Drama watching has turned into such a bust this month, once the last of YAB airs I'll watch the last four episodes but my enthusiasm has definitely waned. Mi nam has started to remind me too much of Xiao Hua (Miss No Good) and that's not a good thing. If I focus on Tae kyung, who really is the nicest icy prince I've ever come across in a kdrama, I might even enjoy the last episodes with liberal use of the fast forward button.
A ProDai re-watch had to be aborted due to dead links >-( I was just at the proposal slide which makes it doubly disappointing.
I was all ready to start watching Smile, You until I found out there will be 46 episodes. The premise really doesn't seem strong enough to support that. It's one I might come back to later.
So from my 'should check out' list I'm debating Jin, City Hall, Strongest Chil Woo, City of Class or Hi My Sweetheart but I'm not sure which to choose, advice anyone? I'm not in the mood for fluffy but I don't want something which breaks my heart either.

I have no love but no major hatred for Twilight, I read half of the first book and then found something else to read but the first movie was okay no better or worse than some other popular chick flicks. However I have mad love for The Sims, one day I will have a better computer and be able to play Sims 3 although by then Sims 5 will probably be out >-/
The above New Moon Sims!Style trailer is hilarious I would watch this movie and love it to pieces. Jacob/Edward unexpected and wins all.
In this crazy dorama world I'm apparently the lowest of the low, I stream watch a lot more than I download watch and I don't care if the subbing group have DO NOT UPLOAD plastered all over the opening scenes. Streaming is easier for me and I'm not bothered how the subtitles get there.
I'm not completely sure what the Viikii uploader is throwing a hissy fit about, someone ripping her vids from YT and uploading them or copying the subs and adding them to their vids on youtube? Either way in my heart of hearts I want the youtuber to prove them wrong and add her subs before Viikii. After finally finding a drama to get excited about again I want a little sand kicked in the face of the people denying me my drug.
YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL I WANTS IT!
I've lost my glasses so I may have to come back and do some serious editing.

Brilliant Legacy ended by cranking up the angst dial to 10 and making me weepy over the wicked step-mother and the lost sister. I was convinced Eun Sung and Hwan could inherit and run Grandma's company together, I'm a little sad that didn't happen.
And in my personal canon Hye Rin and Jun Se got together after a cabin mix-up, with a lot of sensible shouting from her and reflective thinking from him.

Brilliant Legacy is dangerously addictive.
2.5 days and I'm already on episode 19, apart from wishing Daddy dearest would fall under a bus and die for realz I'm loving all the characters even the wicked step-mother. She might be a a nasty piece of work but it comes from a realistic place, all the characters have believable if twisted motivation, well done show!
The best thing about BL is the angst (the beautiful, beautiful angst) and the slow but believable redemption of Hwan, I no longer chant Punch him, punch him in the face! instead I want to give him a hug.

The awesome news about Katee Sackhoff guesting in The Big Bang Theory has inspired me, this weekend after getting back from visiting my mum in London I'm going to have a BSG marathon.
There will be popcorn, the mini and as much of season 1 as I can get in before falling asleep on the sofa. I'm determined to make it to the Lee towel scene! Although I'm blanking on which episode that is ^_^
The 1980 based comic book has had an interesting start but my heart lies with the Re-imagining.

Dear Well Meaning Bestie,
Deep emotional denial isn't the healthy option but it's the one getting me by.
Offers of support and advice don't change facts babe, one parent is dying by inches and has been for years, it'll be over before Christmas expect an invite to the funeral through FB. The other is going for a course of radio therapy which will hopefully reduce a brain tumour, last year's surgery having been unsuccessful. And through all this family undercurrents are still...undercurrenting.
An emotional shut down might not be how you'd deal with all this crap but it's how I get out of bed in the morning. Dragging me to the pub and sneaking double shots into my drink isn't going to work and FYI sneaky isn't your thing. Thanks for caring but BACK OFF.
-
I really need to say something along those lines to her but it'll just end in a messy argument.

You're Beautiful is exactly the tonic I need to get over the lingering bitterness of BOF and if someone told me it's a shoujo manga I'd believe it. It has shoujo built into the foundations but being a Hong Sisters production those elements are either subverted or taken to extremes which works more often than it doesn't.
It's not one I'd recommend for the non dorama watchers on my flist the premise and slap-stick comedy would turn off a newcomer but I'm loving it. It would be interesting if the 'brother' did come back but I'm not sure if Park Shin Hye has Yoon Eun Hye chops. My hope is that once she finds her feet she'll become more confident.
It's no Coffee Prince, but that set the bar high, in fact the closest comparison is Hana Kim.
Trouble-prone heroine trying to pass as male? Check.
Ditzy character having bothersome reaction to 'male' friend? Check.
LI with a secret? Check.
FYI Ji Hoo has had a cosmetic surgery, become an idol but he's still can't get the girl.

As a general rule I don't watch Korean period dramas, they tend to have high episode counts, I have a short attention span, and then there's the Hats. I know they're historically accurate and realise I'm being borderline offensive but whenever I see them I'm suddenly 10 years old again, watching Dr Who with my step brother while he does a running commentary on 'The Funny Hat People' it's hard to take the characters seriously.
Dramabeans is weakening my stance, two separate posts, two different dramas, two breath-taking pictures.

Should I watch Chuno for the plot or the scruffy men with tons of angst?

I can't remember what Queen Seon-deok is about off the top of my head, a slew of 'Xena' type
dramas came out around the same time, but this image wow. The clothes,
the leashed power, whoever she's striding out to take down doesn't stand a chance, HBIC indeed.

Show I'm not kidding, knock it off! Trying to get me to ship Dean/Cas isn't going to work, he's an angel for gods sake! The odd Dean angsting over what he can't fic is one thing but...

X-Men 3 was on television on Sunday night and I have to say it was the lamest Dark Phoenix story I've ever watched or read. It has however left me with this niggling need to write a Rogue centric fic bringing her closer to her comic book HBIC status without loosing the sweetness and vulnerability of Marie.
A hook up with Raven and Irene is definitely in order, I even have a title all figured out The Maiden, The Mother and...The Other One.
Virtual cookies for those on my flist who can name the quote.
I have to review my algebra notes, linear equations only make sense if you can remember the basics in the first place.

I'm sure everyone who cares has already seen the Supernatural season 5 opener but I'll keep this general.
It's back and it kicks Cass! (boy does that man know how to make an entrance and send my heart fluttering).
Sam wanders around like a puppy waiting to be kicked again and I do want to give him that swift kick but he's so shell shocked and self flagellating I understand completely why Bobby gave him a by. I know it was likely done for plot reasons but imo he should have gone through blood withdrawal. Handwaving the seriousness, the consequences, cheapens the road Sam willingly walked down making it seem like a plot point TPTB go tired of using. It was set up as a drug metaphor and should be followed through in the same way.
Supernatural uses the fourth wall in such a uncomfortable funny way I giggle and cringe through it every time. I do wonder though if maybe they're a little too obsessed with Wincest, like a closeted gay man blogging about all the sex he and his model-esq girlfriend supposedly have, do the Supernatural writers post their slash on The Pit?
And Dean, oh Dean, when I can't imagine being more of a Dean Girl Jensen proves me wrong. Everything from his handling of Sam to his rousing speech to Bobby and controlled hurt manifesting itself in witticisms had me mesmerised. The boy has 'don't stab me Daddy' super powers I swear.
I approve of the take on Satan it reminds me of how he was written in I, Lucifer by Glen Technorati, charismatic and one magnificent bastard.

Harper Island has just started airing on BBC 3, if nothing else it is a fascinating game of HEY I KNOW YOU! So many tv actors from other shows, it makes my head spin. Everyone from 'Bad Daddy' Aaron Echolls to a former power ranger, Harper Island has them all.
Interesting premise reminds me of Scream, so far I'm shipping the main girl with the fisherman (names will be learnt if it keeps my interest) and trying to figure out who the real killer is.
Glee
Time to kill and I noticed the first two episodes were hosted online. I wasn't all that impressed, it's a little too fluffy for my tastes but it has some good points. Emma reminds me of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory, which is never a bad thing, and I want an entire show based just around her but Glee did gain some emotional ground with this scene

The main selling point for Buzzer Beat prior to watching was Yampai the reason to continue watching is Yampai. Don't get me wrong BB is a nice drama, the acting is okay, not outstanding, but then there's nothing demanding in the plot that requires the blood and guts acting that separates adequate actors from breathtaking ones.
I don't want to damn with faint praise because it's a perfectly watchable drama there's just nothing special about Buzzer Beat. Anyone who has watched more than a handful of doramas will be familiar with the plot elements, the two main characters are struggling to decide if their dreams can be reality is it time to adapt or even rethink those dreams, a secondary OTP who listen and offer sage advice, an older experienced gentleman who's interested in the MFC and let's not forget the potentially crazy ex-girlfriend.
I'm being a little unfair to the ex there, I recognised the actress from Zettai Kareshi straight away and was prepared to hate her on principle alone but I actually find her character very relatable. Maybe this reflects badly on me but I can understand her dissatisfaction with her long term 'gentle' boyfriend.
He's so nice, so attentive it makes her feel inadequate and horribly mean because she isn't 100% nice she has a bitchy side that she stifles because she wants people to like her and be successful. There's still time for her to turn psycho ex-girlfriend in the great tradition of doramas but right now she's my not favourite exactly but the one I find most realistic.
I knew the MFC Riko (Kitagawa Keiko) from somewhere and I kept thinking, maybe because of the similar hair style, it was the actress from Liar Game with Shota but no it's actually Mars from the live action Sailor Moon!

Maybe I just blanked this article from my mind a Korean It Started With A Kiss? There's no reason I'd want to remember that.
I am one of the few who loathe the TWDrama (based on a shoujo manga) every character rubs me the wrong way, from the galactically stupid female lead, the emotionally dead lead male and the awful parents and 'friends'. It's not the drama for me.
Hopefully this is simply Netizen wish casting but apparently Lee Min Ho who will 'once again bring out his sexy bad boy charm to play the role of Naoki, a handsome but arrogant high school genius'. is rumoured to be in the running. It's about time Lee Min Ho got back to acting instead of flogging donuts, despite my eventual dislike for his character in BOF I do think the boy has acting chops.
Which is something I can't say for the possible female lead Goo Hye Sun, but I will say this, there's no doubt she can do stupidity and moronic facial gurning. Goo Hye Sun you have my vote!
Another possibility for Kotoko (the name of the female lead character) is Kim So Eun. So Eun is a young actress worth watchin and I'd love it if she had a starring role in a drama, any drama but this one.
All in all Lee Min Ho and Goo Hye Sun can have their reunion drama I wont be watching any way.

It's the first day of the diet for the first 3 weeks I've decided on a diet plan and then I'm moving onto weight watchers, the weight I've put on since losing my job is disgusting, I disgust myself.

On my calender I have two family dos in the next 4 weeks or should I say had.
Through the power of Facebook my cousin has cancelled her wedding. Now it could just be pre-wedding jitters, she wasn't just getting married but also moving abroad and house-sharing with a mother-in-law who by all accounts holds tight to the purse strings and her son. If rumours are true however she's legged it to Devon with her kids and sister. Disappearing until the coast is clear is not an uncommon tactic so no one expects her back for a while.
I pity those guests who aren't on Facebook or in on the grapevine because the only way they're finding out is by turning up at the church.
Any guesses on the main topic of conversation at next week's Christening?

Three Soeul shippers (Yi Jeong/Ga Eul) have created what is, to me, a master piece in alternative storyline fanvids. East of Eden is seamlessly interwoven with Boys over Flowers and even if you don't know the source material the vid is worth watching on it's own merits. My appreciation for this art form started when a fellow Chloe/Lex shipper weaved together multiple AU fanvids which blew me away, I envy this talent, have striven for it but always fall short of achieving.
